Gross Income (grossincome.com.au) shows how much you earn while you're on the toilet. This page explains what we collect, what we don't, and the rules for paying for the Golden Throne.

The short version

Your salary

The salary and pay period you type in are saved in your browser's local storage on your device. They're never sent to us or anyone else, and there's no salary field anywhere on our server.

The one way money can leave your phone is if you're in Poop Pool and turn off "Share minutes only". It's on by default. If you turn it off:

What stays on your device

Clearing your browser data, or deleting the home screen app, deletes them. We can't recover them for you.

Motion sensor

While a bog is running, the app can use your phone's motion sensor to notice if you've walked off without pressing Finish. iPhones ask your permission first. The readings are checked on your phone and never sent anywhere.

Game stats

When you open a Bog Arcade game, the app sends us the game's name, how long it was open, and whether it hit the Golden Throne paywall. That's all. There's no account, device ID or score attached, so we can't tell who played. We use it to see which games people like.

If you sign in

Signing in is optional. It's needed for Poop Pool (leaderboards with your mates) and the Golden Throne. If you sign in, we store:

Pool mates see totals (time, number of bogs, longest bog, and dollars if you share them). They never see your individual bogs, your email or your salary.

Who helps us run it

Our Supabase database is in Sydney, Australia. Cloudflare, Stripe and Google run worldwide, so what they handle may be processed outside Australia, including in the United States.

What we don't do

Seeing, fixing or deleting your data

We keep your sign-in data until you ask us to delete it. Anonymous game stats aren't linked to anyone, so they can't be deleted per person.

Keeping it safe

Data travels over HTTPS. Database rules mean only you can read your own bogs, and pool mates can only read pool totals. No system is perfect, though. If something goes wrong that's likely to harm you, we'll tell you as soon as we can.

Australian privacy law

Gross Income is made in Melbourne, Australia (ABN 92 638 218 824). We use the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 as our guide for how we handle personal information. As a small business we may not be legally bound by them, but we choose to follow them anyway.

If you have a privacy question or complaint, email us first and we'll reply within 30 days. If you're not happy with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Changes

If we change what we collect, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the change goes live.
